Join us at Parisoma (169 11th St.) on Monday, February 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for SXSFedu: Technapex’s Pre-Conference Edtech Mixer. This is a happy hour event in San Francisco for those who can’t make SXSWedu in Austin in March or people who want to meet fellow attendees before the conference. SXSF hosted by Technapex brings together investors, executives and entrepreneurs to discuss innovations and challenges in the education tech space, allowing those attending the SXSWedu conference to connect with other attendees, and those unable to attend can still engage in meaningful discussion. The mixer will kick off with an hour of networking, drinks and appetizers followed by a panel discussing the digital shift in edtech. Find tickets here

It’s a big news day in the edtech world! Not only has Coursera announced that five of their MOOCs will be eligible for college credit, we’re  thrilled to announce our fourth Technapex event after our successful NYC event in December and two other sold-out events in San Francisco last spring. (Check out our past events here.)

The classroom is shifting towards digital in a major way: iPads, e-books, gaming in the classroom, and other digital platforms have become more popular than ever. The panel, moderated by KQED MindShift editor and edtech guru Tina Barseghian, will explore the digital shift in edtech, talking about how their respective companies are improving learning through the shift to digital, what’s being lost, how schools can bridge the digital divide, and what this means for the future of education.

Tina Barseghian is the founder and editor and of MindShift, a news website about innovations in learning. MindShift was launched more than two years ago through NPR as a medium to understand and dig into how progressive teaching tactics and technology have the potential to make learning relevant to students. She’s interested in exploring the cross-section of cultural and technological shifts and their influence on ideas like ownership of learning and the importance of context in content.

We’d like to give a big thanks to our sponsor, Wix! The local Wix team, WixLoungeSF, is a mobile community initiative dedicated to sharing a complete toolkit to grow your online presence. They offer dynamic panels, networking events, workshops, collaborations and more throughout the California area. The WixLoungeSF team also hosts programs in different locations, teaches workshops on web design and site management, attends community events and does everything they can to support the growth of your online presence.
