What Teachers Make

David Thornberg has a great quote: “Any teacher that can be replaced by technology deserves to be.”

In the age of education technology, there’s a somewhat unfounded concern that all this new tech and all these new tools may replace teachers someday. But as Thornberg’s quote implies, great teachers will never be replaced by technology. Technology will help those innovative and inspirational teachers be even more effective.

We all have that one (or two or three, if we’re lucky!) teacher who inspired us during our school careers, and today on World Teachers’ Day (held annually on October 5 since 1994), we’d like to honor them by sharing this fantastic speech by Taylor Mali on “What Teachers Make.”

Enjoy!

Who’s your favorite teacher? Tell us about them in the comments below, or shoot me an email and tell me how your favorite teachers inspired you at cdoyle@technapex.com. Here, I’ll start! Mr. Weldon, Signora Bertini, and Mrs. Berghoff — thanks for everything. :)
